In this interview, hosted by TFM Creative Director Casey Gore, we hear about Katie’s experience with one of the world’s most iconic makeup brands, the techniques behind the look and what she loves most about Armani Beauty.
Casey: Katie, from one Makeup Artist to another… when you received the call about doing a collaboration with GIORGIO ARMANI, What did you say? How did it make you feel?
Katie: Surprised but delighted! Luminous Silk Foundation has been my go to for as long as I can remember so to create a look around it felt like a very natural process. I’m very grateful to get the opportunity to collaborate with such an incredible brand.
Casey: Talk us through the look you created and what you did?
Katie: The idea behind the campaign was to bring a personal touch to #MyLuminousSilkLook. To compliment my model, Sophie Gray, I used a sheer to mid coverage of Luminous Silk to compliment her complexion and keep her freckles visible. I then kept the eye fairly clean to let the bold red lip and flawless base be the focus of the look.
Casey: What are the bridal must haves in the Giorgio Armani range?
Katie: Luminous Silk Foundation of course (As I’m sure all of the TFM Artists would agree!). The Georgio Armani UV Master Primer with SPF40 is also excellent for sun protection and extra glow. Ideal for outdoor ceremonies although I use this primer regardless of location as it gives the perfect hint of highlight to the skin.
Casey: The luscious red lips you did are heaven. Are there any "red lip tips" you would like to share?
Katie: Use steady, sober hands! I like to use a lip liner or even another lipstick in a darker tone to outline the lip. This is then covered in the chosen shade for subtle depth and contrast.
Casey: What are your thoughts on red lips for a wedding day?
Katie: I think that whilst this would be a great statement look for some people, it's not for everyone! If you are not the type of person who would be happy to re-apply and maintain the lip throughout the day/night (or have a bridesmaid who can keep on top of it for you) then I'd recommend sticking to something more neutral as red lips aren't very kiss friendly! If you've got it in you to take the time to re-apply later though, go for it!
