Kristin and Ben have a beautiful love story that started with the most important thing: a beautiful friendship. "We used to work together in our early twenties. We found out we had the same birthday and liked the same music", says Kristin, "so naturally, we became really good friends! After he left the job, we didn’t speak for a few years and then ended up chatting on Facebook about our favourite band. Next thing ya know, we were inseparable!"
Kristin wanted her day to be organic, minimal and easy. Kristin says "I have been getting my hair done by Jayde for years and it was a no brainer to work with her for our wedding. She is the best at minimal chic and effortless beauty."
"The hair trial was incredible, of course." And getting ready on the day I felt "completely calm, relaxed, present and blissful."
Both the ceremony and reception were at the Grounds of Alexandria. "We didn’t want anyone to have to move between venues so the Grounds was a no brainer." says Kristin. "We really wanted good food and good booze – the Grounds definitely tick both of those boxes. Convenience was also a big part. We stayed at the Old Clare Hotel in Chippendale so they were both really close to each other."
Kristin asked everyone to avoid using their mobile phones for the day which allowed for complete presence in the moment. Kristin says. "I didn’t expect everyone to be so emotional. It was really touching." Her wedding highlights include the best man speech and her husband's speech. "The best man was absolutely hilarious and my husband’s speech was simply beautiful." We think a very sweet and special moment would have been when Kristin sang Joni Mitchell’s Case of You to her husband. "He was in tears."
Kristin's advice for a Future Mrs is to "first and most importantly, allow your wedding to be a true representation of you as a couple and do what feels right in your heart. Everyone will feel it. Secondly, don’t get overwhelmed during the planning. You won’t even remember what anything looks like."
