Anna Lee's work as a makeup artist can be found in publications like Marie Claire, Sunday Life, Modern Wedding Magazine, Alchemy Magazine, NW Magazine, Style Me Romy, Women's Weekly, Woman’s Day and Sneaky Magazine. She's a fun and energetic makeup artist that is always a pleasure to be around. Here we ask Anna a few questions so you can get to know her.
What are your all time favourite makeup products and why?
Firstly, Georgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. It can be applied sheer to full coverage and makes skin look natural. It's also a very reliable foundation for me. I've tried others but always come back to Georgio Armani. And secondly, MAC pigment "Blonde's Gold". It can be used as a subtle highlight on the face and inner corner of the eye. A little bit can be mixed in with moisturiser for a luminous look.
Describe your signature makeup look?
A natural "smokey" eye using earthy tones so it looks natural in photos and not too heavy when seen in person. I also like to do fresh skin and aim to make skin look like skin! I'm a strong believer in enhancing ones features rather than doing a complete overhaul. I want women (and men) to feel empowered in their own skin and not feel like they need to hide themselves with heavy makeup.
What is your dream wedding destination?
Anywhere with beautiful landscapes!
Your number 1 tip for brides?
I think every makeup artist will say this but my #1 tip is skincare! Prepping skin before the wedding day with a skin regime &/or facial leading up to the event makes all the difference with the overall makeup look. This includes prepping lips as well (for e.g. with Laneige Lip Sleeping mask) especially if a bride has dry lips all the time. Dry lips tend to absorb more lip product so you constantly have to reapply throughout the day.
Finally, leave us with your best makeup tip or hack.
I've had clients who like to put eyeliner on but their eyelid area is quite small. Sometimes the eyelid gets lost by a liner that is too thick for the eye shape and can look like dark eye shadow when the eye is open. Using an angle brush with either a dark eye shadow (for a softer liner look) or gel liner (for a more defined line) draw a very thin line very close to the lash line. The aim is to enhance your eye shape with liner and be able to still see an eyelid area.
